A neat, Japanese-inspired package of carbs (sushi rice), protein (free-range chicken in a home-made teriyaki marinade of mirin, sake and soy) and veg (carrots and edamame), covering every possible base, and most importantly the crucial one: it’s damn tasty. This is a super-convenient, microwavable meal for one – just zap it for 5 minutes, drizzle on the additional teriyaki sauce, grab yourself a pair of chopsticks and dig in.

This is a complete, all-in-one meal, requiring nothing, but feel free to amp up the flavour with Japanese sprinkles like furikake or togarashi, or add whatever chilli sauce floats your boat.

Ingredients

Jasmine rice (36%) (water, Jasmine rice, rice bran oil, salt), free-range chicken thighs (25%), Chinese cabbage, edamame (soy), carrot, ginger, rice bran oil, sesame seeds, salt, garlic. Teriyaki sauce (mirin (glucose syrup (glucose, dextrose), rice, alcohol, koji (rice, rice yeast)), soy sauce (water, soybean, wheat, salt), sake, sugar, water, garlic, sesame oil, ginger)

To Cook

Peel back the plastic film and pour the sachet of teriyaki sauce over the chicken, then lay the film back over the tray.
DEFROSTED: microwave for 3-4 minutes or until piping hot.
FROZEN: microwave for 5-6 minutes or until piping hot.
