Prep, Cook & Serve

Small:

DEFROSTED: Pierce the film several times and microwave for 3 minutes, stir gently then heat for a further 1-2 minutes. Alternatively, empty into a saucepan or fry pan and simmer gently till piping hot. FROZEN: Pierce the film and microwave for 4 minutes, stir gently and heat for a further 2-3 minutes or until piping hot. Serve with pasta, crusty bread, mashed potato or a green salad. Microwaves vary, please adjust heating times if necessary.

How We Make It

To make our meatballs, we use a classic Italian blend of pork and veal mix, perked up with flavourings like lemon zest, parsley, thyme and garlic and onion. A bit of ricotta in the mixture keeps them soft and we use egg but no breadcrumbs to bind.

After hand-rolling them, we roast them in the oven to keep things lean, then simmer them in a sweet, slow-cooked tomato sauce.

Ingredients

Tomato sauce (54%) (crushed tomatoes (85%) (tomato puree, citric acid), onion, garlic, basil, olive oil, salt, bay leaves), meatballs (46%) (pork and veal mince (69%), onion, ricotta cheese (milk, whey (milk), acetic acid), free range eggs, garlic, parsley, salt, thyme, lemon zest, nutmeg, olive oil)

Allergens

Does contain: eggs, milk

May contain traces of: crustaceans, fish, gluten, lupin, molluscs, peanuts, sesame, soy, sulphites, tree nuts, wheat

Goes With...

Serve with pasta, polenta or gnocchi, some basil or parsley and lashings of grated Parmesan.

LOW CARB OPTION: Serve over a big pile of salad or spiralized zucchini. We like to toss our zucchini noodles in a frying pan with olive oil and salt - lots of recipes call for blanching them but we find that it makes them sad and soggy.
