Tender doesn’t even begin to describe it. These beef cheeks are rubbed with paprika, thyme, garlic and tomato, browned to a deep mahogany, then slow-braised overnight in a rich, spiced sauce of red wine, soy, orange juice, mandarin peel, cinnamon and star anise. The result? Meltingly soft meat in a sauce so complex it deserves a standing ovation. 

To Serve

Ladle over a pile of buttery mash with greens on the side or shred the beef and toss through pappardelle. Either way, a glass of red is essential.

Beef cheeks (60%), water, red wine (sulphites), olive oil, onion, carrot, celery, red wine vinegar (sulphites), orange juice, tomato paste, GF soy sauce (water, soybean, rice, salt), parsley, garlic, salt, kecap manis (water, defatted soybean, sugar, wheat, salt), paprika, thyme, garlic powder, citrus peel (tangerine), cinnamon, star aniseed, rice bran oil, white pepper.

Microwave: From FROZEN: Pierce the film several times and microwave for 4-5 minutes. Remove the film, stir gently, microwave for 2-3 minutes more or until heated through. From DEFROSTED: Pierce the film several times and microwave for 4-5 minutes. Serve with Dinner Ladies mash potato and some steamed greens. Alternatively, shred the meat with 2 forks, mix through the sauce and serve with noodles or rice. Microwaves ovens vary, please adjust cooking times if necessary. This dish comes in a microwave-safe container. Ensure to place only one tray in the microwave at a time and that it has room to move freely.
