Green pea and ham soup

We simmer split peas, onions and carrots with ham hocks until the peas have collapsed and the hocks have surrendered their smoky flavour. We then remove them, add fresh green peas, both for colour and sweetness, before blending the soup and returning the shredded hocks - oh, the taste of childhood comfort!

- Small:500 ml Serves one (hungry) to two adults.
- Large:1 litre Serves two to three adults
Serve with warm crusty sourdough and a good grind of pepper.
FROZEN PRODUCT. Defrost in refrigerator. Once defrosted, cook and consume within 48 hours.
Defrost fully and then reheat in a saucepan or microwave, stirring occasionally, till piping hot.
